Senior Lawyer

Senior lawyer with extensive commercial and corporate experience and specialisation in media and IP.

Kelly provides advice across the firm’s practice areas, and combines commerciality with a general corporate awareness and detailed understanding of structural and regulatory restraints in an evolving digital economy. She has developed strong, trusted relationships with clients, including those engaged in the creation of content, and those in broader industries.

Kelly has extensive legal and practical experience in the development and distribution of entertainment productions across film, television, mobile and social media channels. She advises creators about chain-of-title issues and protection of intangible assets, and helps clients manage and protect their reputations and brands. She is an expert in copyright law and advises on the protection of registrable forms of IP, including trade marks, and on domain name arbitrations in Australia and overseas.  Kelly has lectured on various aspects of IP and digital media law, including at the Australian Institute of Music.

Kelly’s corporate practice includes significant work in a range of equity-based deals and shareholder arrangements.  She has detailed practical legal knowledge of complex statutory register and filing requirements under the Corporations Act, and acts as ASIC registered agent for many of the firm’s clients.

Kelly is experienced in litigation and disputes, including in the Supreme Court of NSW and the Federal Court. She has had primary responsibility for all critical aspects of trial preparation, coordinating junior lawyers and support staff, instructing junior and senior counsel, and managing the client relationship.

Prior to joining Edwards + Co in 2016, Kelly worked as a solicitor for more than 6 years, including in a national law firm. She holds a law degree from Bond University and is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW.
